It is a modern reality that mainline churches have been experiencing sluggish membership growth and Sunday attendance along with downward trending pledged income for years. The recent closures of many churches due to the coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated this situation. Churches are now also having to reimagine how to do worship, Christian formation, mission, and ministry while adhering to local social distancing directives and safety measures intended to protect vulnerable populations.
With many churches making plans to reopen in the coming months, they do so facing steep and sudden changes in their resources due to the closures as well as a continuing threat of exposure for older members and the infirm. As resources decline, anxiety builds and many churches find themselves facing tough decisions about how to maintain their preferred way of being church. Over time, this anxiety can lead to volunteer burnout, malaise, and even conflict, all of which contribute to further declines in attendance and new membership.
The Partnership For ReNEWal is dedicated to enabling churches of various sizes, shapes, and histories to be agile and resilient in our shifting religio-cultural environment. We do this by engaging with individual churches in a variety of ways so that the divine purpose for each congregation is discovered or re-discovered and then nourished and nurtured, and launched with concrete goals, tools, and support for the journey.
In order to serve the churches we love so much, we have developed a free, pre-recorded workshop. See below for more details.
